Description

This bridge was inaugurated on October 31, 1886, by King Luís I on his birthday. It was designed by the Belgian engineer Théophile Seyrig, a former business partner of Gustave Eiffel. The structure features two decks: the upper deck is used by the Porto Metro and pedestrians, while the lower deck serves public transport and pedestrians. In 1996, it was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is currently the main symbol of the city of Porto.
