Description
Designed by engineer Edgar Cardoso, the Arrábida Bridge features a 270-meter span that for some time held the world record for reinforced concrete arch bridges. Inaugurated in 1963, the structure rises 70 meters above the average water level of the Douro River. Today, besides being a vital road link, it is famous for offering one of the few bridge arch climbs in Europe, providing a unique panoramic view of the river's mouth.
