Maria Pia Bridge

Description

Inaugurated on November 4, 1877, this railway bridge is one of the most iconic works by the prestigious engineer Gustave Eiffel. As the oldest bridge connecting the cities of Porto and Gaia, its construction established the first railway link between both banks. Classified as a National Monument in 1982, the structure has been decommissioned since 1991 and remains today a historic icon of iron engineering.
